As Green Bay prepares to host the 2025 NFL Draft from 24–26 April, TitletownTech - a venture capital firm backed by the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft - has announced the inaugural TitletownTech Startup Draft. This nationwide pitch competition offers a $1 million investment to the winning startup, aiming to spotlight emerging innovation and entrepreneurship in conjunction with the NFL Draft festivities.
The competition is open to early-stage startups from the United States and Canada that have received less than $10 million in funding. Applicants will undergo a selection process culminating in a “Startup Combine” on 3–4 April in Green Bay, where finalists will pitch their ideas. The winner will be announced during a live-streamed event on 24 April, just before the NFL Draft commences.
Craig Dickman, Managing Partner at TitletownTech, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that it aims to attract thousands of applicants and showcase Wisconsin’s strengths beyond its sports legacy. Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy highlighted the uniqueness of hosting both the NFL Draft and the Startup Draft, emphasising Green Bay’s appeal to entrepreneurs.
This initiative reflects a broader trend of integrating entrepreneurial ventures with major sporting events, providing startups with a platform to gain exposure and investment opportunities. By aligning the Startup Draft with the NFL Draft, TitletownTech leverages the heightened attention on Green Bay to foster innovation and economic growth in the region.
In addition to the 1 million investment, the winning startup will receive 350,000 in Microsoft Azure credits, providing essential cloud computing resources to support their growth. The competition seeks startups operating in sectors aligned with Wisconsin’s core industries, including advanced manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, agriculture, water, energy, digital health, and sports.
The Startup Combine will offer finalists an opportunity to refine their pitches, receive market feedback, and engage with TitletownTech’s team, portfolio companies, and corporate investors. This engagement aims to provide increased visibility, mentorship, and the chance to build strategic relationships that extend beyond the competition.
The live-streamed Startup Draft Day on 24 April will allow a global audience to witness the innovative ideas presented by the finalists, further amplifying the reach and impact of the competition. This event underscores TitletownTech’s commitment to fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem and positioning Green Bay as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
By hosting the Startup Draft alongside the NFL Draft, TitletownTech not only celebrates the future of professional football but also champions the next generation of innovators poised to drive economic growth and technological advancement. This dual celebration of sports and innovation exemplifies the dynamic spirit of Green Bay and its dedication to progress both on and off the pitch.
