PTO Announces New Augmented Reality Rides With Rouvy

The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has recently announced a new partnership with Rouvy, an indoor cycling platform that has become the official virtual ride partner of the 2023 PTO Tour. This partnership will allow amateur triathletes to attempt a ‘virtual ride’ of the PTO Asian Open course in Singapore alongside international professional triathletes.

Rouvy is known for its extensive library of augmented reality routes, with more than 15,000 routes filmed on video around the world, all enhanced with AR technology. This partnership with the PTO Tour is part of Rouvy’s strategy to focus on triathlon marketing and provide triathletes with relevant content that helps them prepare for race day.

Rouvy CEO Petr Samek stated, “This is a significant partnership for Rouvy as we put more of a marketing focus on triathlon, in order to provide triathletes with relevant content on our platform that helps them prepare for race day.”

The PTO Tour races are fast becoming the pinnacle of the sport, with world-class fields meaning the best athletes are racing head-to-head on a consistent basis – and also giving Age Groupers the chance to experience the same course over the same weekend.

But training for a bike course you’ve never ridden before can be tough, so by giving all athletes the chance to experience it virtually is proving both a helpful training tool and a cool experience. As a result, Rouvy’s partnership with PTO is expected to attract more triathletes, and cycling enthusiasts to its platform.

PTO CEO Sam Renouf added, “Rouvy’s big strength as a platform is to enable professional and amateur athletes the chance to ride real routes at home. The Singapore course for the PTO Asian Open will be stunning and take in a number of the city’s iconic landmarks. By partnering with them in this way, we’re able to give all our athletes a unique opportunity to try out and train on the course virtually before race day.”

The 2023 PTO Tour kicked off in Ibiza on Saturday 6th May with the first-ever PTO European Open. The event was attended by some of the biggest names in the triathlon world, with more than 100 professionals and 1,500 Age Group athletes from all over the world participating.

The PTO Tour will now head to Milwaukee in August for the PTO US Open and then to Singapore for the inaugural PTO Asian Open. With Rouvy as its virtual ride partner, the PTO Tour is expected to draw even more athletes and spectators alike, solidifying its position as one of the most exciting and innovative events in the triathlon world.
