NFL Approves Tom Brady's Purchase of Las Vegas Raiders Stake

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady expressed his gratitude and excitement after receiving unanimous approval from NFL team owners to purchase a 5% stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. The vote, held at a meeting in Atlanta, saw all 32 NFL owners give the green light to the former quarterback's investment in the team.

Brady, who retired from the NFL in February 2023 after 23 seasons, reflected on the values he learned throughout his career and how they align with the Raiders franchise. "Football is a game of teamwork, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence," Brady said in a statement. "The Raiders and the city of Las Vegas embody these same values, and I’m honoured to become part of that story."

In addition to his new role with the Raiders, Brady already holds minority ownership stakes in Birmingham City, an English football club, and the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces.

Brady's involvement in the Raiders required approval from at least 24 of the NFL’s 32 team owners, but the decision was unanimous. He expressed his eagerness to contribute to the team, saying, "I'm excited to help the organisation in any way I can, honouring the Raiders’ rich tradition while improving the experience for our fans. And most importantly, WIN football games."

While Brady will continue his broadcasting career with Fox’s NFL coverage, certain restrictions have been placed on him during the Raiders deal process. He cannot participate in broadcast production meetings involving the team or have access to Raiders players, coaches, or facilities. He is also prohibited from publicly criticising other teams or officials when covering Raiders games, in line with NFL rules.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomed Brady’s investment, saying, "It's great that Tom Brady wants to invest in the NFL. He cares deeply about this game and believes in its future, which speaks volumes about its continued growth."
