NCAA Partners with AI Specialist Veritone for Media Asset Management

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has entered into a multi-year agreement with Veritone, making the AI-powered technology company its official global archive of record and exclusive video licensing agent.

As part of this collaboration, Veritone’s advanced Digital Media Hub (DMH) platform will be utilised to enhance the storage, management, and distribution of the NCAA’s championship media assets. The platform’s licensing capabilities will enable the NCAA to more effectively monetise its championship content across various sectors, including documentaries, editorial, advertising, and entertainment.

Veritone’s DMH platform will streamline the organisation of media assets from NCAA championships, making content easily searchable for broadcasters, member institutions, marketing teams, and social media managers. Additionally, student-athletes will have access to the NCAA’s media library for personal use, including finding assets for paid third-party sponsorships and endorsements.

This partnership follows the NCAA’s launch of the ‘NIL Assist’ online platform, designed to help student-athletes capitalise on commercial opportunities related to their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with Veritone as our official global archive and footage licensing agent,” said Chris Termini, NCAA managing director of championships external operations. “This collaboration will allow us to preserve and share the rich history of NCAA championships while providing enhanced accessibility and licensing opportunities.

Veritone’s tech-driven solutions align perfectly with the NCAA’s commitment to innovation and our goal of showcasing the achievements of student-athletes across divisions.”

The partnership is set to take effect ahead of the 2024/25 college football season, which kicks off on August 24th with the NCAA Division I football campaign.
