A group of influential figures from the music industry is placing their bets on America's untapped appetite for golf content. Justin Bieber, DJ Khaled, Macklemore, Darius Rucker, and Jake Owen have officially joined TMRW Sports as investors. TMRW Sports, a sports, media, and entertainment company co-founded by golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, along with media veteran Mike McCarley, is at the forefront of this exciting venture.
The maiden project of TMRW Sports is the TGL (TMRW Golf League), an innovative made-for-TV golf league that aims to revolutionize the sport. The league will showcase tech-forward golf competitions, taking place in a custom-built arena during primetime broadcasts. Top golfers such as Woods, McIlroy, Adam Scott, Jon Rahm, and other PGA Tour professionals have already committed to participating when the TGL goes live next year.
Connect Ventures and 25madison Ventures led TMRW Sports' initial investment round, but the company has since attracted an impressive roster of backers from the worlds of sports, entertainment, and technology. MLB star Mike Trout, NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade, Serena Williams, Justin Timberlake, and media veterans Dick Ebersol and Greg Maffei are among the notable investors who have joined forces with TMRW Sports.
The inclusion of renowned music industry veterans highlights the strong connection between golf and pop culture. Mike McCarley expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Golf is thriving due to its surge in cultural relevance that resonates across generations and demographics. These entertainers come from diverse backgrounds and have their own fan bases, but they all share a genuine passion for golf and have the potential to introduce the sport to new enthusiasts. Their addition complements the collective expertise and reach of the TMRW Sports investor group, which spans finance, sports business, technology, and media. We are grateful for their support and belief in TMRW Sports' vision of merging sports and technology."
