The DP World Tour has announced a new partnership with Golf+, bringing European golf fans a virtual reality experience of the renowned Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai. Available through the Meta Quest platform, this latest collaboration will allow users to virtually play the course where the DP World Tour Championship, the season finale, is held each year.
Starting from 6 November, all Meta Quest users will be able to access the Earth Course in VR, enabling fans to experience the championship venue as if they were walking the fairways in Dubai. This virtual course adds to Golf+’s official status as the DP World Tour’s VR golf game.
This isn’t the tour’s first venture into the virtual world; in November 2022, the DP World Tour partnered with VR golf game Golf5 eClub to launch a tournament in the metaverse, inviting players to compete in a VR simulation of the final three holes of the Earth Course. That game was developed in collaboration with AAA Game Studios.
Richard Bunn, Chief Revenue and Content Officer at the DP World Tour, commented on the collaboration: “This collaboration is a fantastic opportunity to engage both seasoned golfers and newcomers to the game, allowing them to experience one of our Tour’s most iconic venues like never before.”
With this VR launch, the DP World Tour continues to innovate in fan engagement, giving players worldwide the chance to immerse themselves in a virtual version of one of Europe’s top golfing destinations.
