10 Startups Selected for Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech 2024



Today marks a pivotal moment as ten burgeoning startups step into the limelight as part of the fourth cohort of the Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech Accelerator, powered by Boomtown. With the immersive six-month program slated to kick off in March, these startups are poised to revolutionise the sports industry with their innovative solutions.


Amidst the buzz surrounding the announcement titled, it's evident that the allure of the SportsTech program continues to grow. Drawing a staggering 1,500 applicants from 52 countries, this year's selection process was fiercely competitive. Yet, the chosen ten companies now have the privilege of collaborating with esteemed sports and tech brands from across the globe, including recent addition Premier League, alongside established partners such as NBC Sports, NBC Sports Next, Sky Sports, Comcast Spectacor, Golf, NASCAR, and PGA TOUR. Furthermore, three US Olympic sports organisations—U.S. Ski & Snowboard, USA Swimming, and USA Cycling—stand ready to offer their expertise and support.


Reflecting on the success of previous cohorts, The Sports Playmaker MD Jay Greene reaffirms its commitment to nurturing technological innovation within the sports industry. "The Sports Playmaker has supported many of the tech companies from previous cohorts, and we are excited about learning more about the tech coming from the new 2024 class," Jay Greene declares, highlighting its dedication to fostering the growth of startups within the SportsTech ecosystem.


Since its inception in 2021, the SportsTech program has proven instrumental in propelling startups towards success, with alumni securing a total of 132 pilots, partnerships, and commercial deals with consortium partners. Jenna Kurath, Vice President of Startup Partnerships and Head of Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech, underscores the program's mission to empower startups to become scalable ventures capable of making a lasting impact on the sports landscape. Through personalised guidance from SportsTech advisors and strategic collaborations with industry leaders, entrepreneurs will refine their go-to-market strategies and navigate the intricacies of the sports industry.


The 2024 program is slated to commence on March 4 in Florida, offering participants exclusive access to partner events and immersion experiences. From Universal Studios Florida to NASCAR's Daytona International Speedway, startups will gain invaluable insights into the operational needs of partner organisations, aligning their technology solutions with real-world demands.


Mentors, including industry titans from Comcast NBCUniversal and strategic advisors from the Boomtown network and partner consortium, will provide invaluable guidance throughout the program. The accelerator will culminate at Rally Innovation in Indianapolis on August 27-28, 2024, where startups will showcase their technological innovations and forge new business opportunities within the sports industry.
